Dear Clients and Colleagues: 

Fourteen years ago I opened the first veterinary behavioral referral practice in Portland, the Animal Behavior Clinic, LLC.  Over the years I have appreciated and enjoyed working with you to try to improve the behavioral health of thousands of pets in the Pacific Northwest.  While I always will be intrigued by the individual patients and their behavioral challenges, in the past few years my professional interests have shifted towards continuing education, preventative behavioral care and conducting/reviewing clinical research.  Recently, an unexpected but exciting career opportunity that allows me to focus on my current interests came to my attention and I was fortunate to be offered the position. At the end of August 2011 I will begin my new position as as the Pacific Northwest ELANCO Senior Veterinary Technical Consultant.    

While this career opportunity is exciting for me personally, I also appreciate the ongoing need for a Board Certified Veterinary Behaviorist in the Portland area.  That is why I am very pleased to announce that as of August 1, 2011, Christopher Pachel, DVM, DACVB has acquired the Animal Behavior Clinic, LLC.  Dr. Pachel has been with the Animal Behavior Clinic, LLC for over a year and we share the same practice philosophy.  He is an outstanding clinician and communicator and he provides both competent and compassionate care.  I am confident that you will be happy with this transition; he truly is a great fit for our community.
